Activities
Ric Jurgens is Chairman of the Board, CEO,
and President of Hy-Vee, Inc. in Des Moines,
Iowa. An Iowa native, Mr. Jurgens received an
industrial administration bachelor's degree from
Iowa State University in 1971, when he joined Hy-Vee.
He progressed as store manager, district
manager, regional manager, senior vice president,
executive vice president,
chief administrative officer and to his current positions.
Community
Activities
Mr.
Jurgens is a member of the Executive
Committee of the Board for the
Civic Center of Greater Des Moines and is a
recipient of the state of
Iowa's Governor's Volunteerism Award. He has
previously served on a number of other boards including the
Food Bank of Iowa, Variety of Iowa and the
Iowa Games.
Iowa State
University
Since 2000, Mr. Jurgens has served as a
valued member of the College of Business Dean's
Advisory Council. His service has spanned the
tenure of two deans in the college and he is a loyal
advisor, investor and friend. Mr. Jurgens was
a member of the 2001/2002 College of Business Dean's
Search Committee, is a member of the Order of the
Knoll and serves on the Board
of Governors of the Iowa State
University Foundation. In 1997, he
received the Citation of Achievement Award from the
College of Business for outstanding achievement in
life beyond the campus and in 2002 received the John DeVries Service Award
to recognize an
individual who has demonstrated outstanding service
to the College of Business.
