Professional Activities
John E. Ganoe is responsible for mergers and acquisitions for Wells Fargo & Company. He began his career in 1970 at Arthur Andersen in Chicago as a staff auditor and was named senior auditor. Two years later he joined Brady Motorfrate, Inc., in Des Moines as a controller. In 1973 he moved to Milwaukee and joined Unicare Services, Inc., where he held several senior management positions, including corporate controller and corporate treasurer. In 1980 he joined Banks of Iowa, based in Des Moines, as chief financial officer.

In 1983 he joined Norwest Corporation as its first regional controller for the Iowa banking region and was later named chief administrative officer. He moved to the corporate office in Minneapolis in 1985 to develop Norwest's current policy, standards and procedures program. In 1986 he led Norwest's first modem-day banking acquisition and was named senior vice president and head of Strategic Planning and Acquisitions in 1990. He was promoted to executive vice president in 1995 and became a member of the Management Committee of Norwest Corporation.  Norwest Corporation acquired Wells Fargo in 1998 and changed its name to Wells Fargo Corporation.


Community Activities
Ganoe has served on the Iowa Prison Industries Advisory Board and St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Hamel, MN.

Iowa State University
Ganoe is a member of the College of Business Dean's Advisory Council.  He will be the Executive in Residence speaker Spring 2004.
