Professional Activities
James Frein started his business career at the Harris Bank in Chicago after graduation from ISU.  In 1976 he joined Hutchinson, Shockey, Erley, and Company, an investment banking firm that specializes in underwriting, trading, and sales of municipal bonds.  He was President and CEO from 1986 until 1994 and served as Vice Chairman of the Board from 1994-1995 when he retired.  He is a Founder and Director of the Commerce Bank of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona.

Community Activities
Frein was active in his community where he served as a Lake County, IL School District 106 School Board member for eight years and president for two years.  He also served on the Board of Trustees for the Village of Bannockburn, IL, for nine years. 

He was a member of the Municipal Bond Club of Chicago from 1975 until 1995 and a member of the Public Security Association from 1991 until 1994 where he served as appointed chairman of Regional Advisory Committee.

Jim currently serves on the advisory boards of the Red Sky Ranch Golf Club and the Game Creek Club in Colorado.  He is a volunteer with the Vail Valley Medical Center and was Bailli of the Chaine des Rotisseurs Vail Chapter for eight years.

He is a member of the College of Business Dean’s Advisory Council, the Order of the Knoll, and was recently selected to serve on the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
