The academic programs offered by the
Management and Marketing department are designed to prepare
students for future positions in product management, public
relations, advertising, sales promotion, marketing research,
sales, sales management, human resource management, entrepreneurship, and corporate leadership.
Iowa State management and marketing faculty are recognized
for outstanding research accomplishments and business
impact.
The marketing department is ranked 2nd for non-Ph.D. institutions in
research impact and productivity and 33 when compared to all colleges
and universities. This 2003 study was conducted by Helm, Hunt, and
Houston with the University of Missouri, Columbia.
According to a recent article in the Journal of
Personal Selling and Sales Management, our management
faculty ranked second in the number of articles and tied for
fourth in the number of published journal articles on
selling and sales management in 16 top-ranked academic
journals.
Management and marketing faculty are on editorial boards of
Journal of Advertising and have received recognition
recently by receiving the Phillip G. Hubbard Award for
Outstanding Education, the Best Reviewer Award 2002 from the
International Management Division of the Academy of
Management, the Journal of International Business Studies
(JIBS) "Decade Award,” and the ISI Essential Science
Indicators Top Paper in market research.

The Iowa State
University entrepreneurship program has been ranked as one of the top
100 programs in entrepreneurship, moving into a first tier ranking
category, as reported in the May 2004 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine.
