I owa State's solar car racing team, is seeking a new faculty advisor. The advisor does not need to have knowledge of solar cars - just an interest in them. This person must be willing to go on races and trips with the team if needed, and should try to make it to most team meetings. Email solarcar@iastate.edu if you are interested in filling this role.

MANAGEMENT Jeffrey Kaufmann, assistant professor of management, chaired a symposium on Law & Management and gave a presentation on "What is Law and Management".
Jeffrey Kaufmann, assistant professor of management, chaired a session on "Knowledge Management for the section of Managerial and Organizational Cognition". MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS Jim Kurtenbach, associate professor of accounting; Brian Mennecke, associate professor of management information systems; and Tony Townsend, associate professor of management information systems will host Lettie Prell from the Iowa Department of Corrections for a presentation on Friday, September 30, 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., location TBA. Faculty from the College of Business and other ISU colleges are encouraged to attend as the discussion will focus on data availability and research opportunities with the Department of Corrections." Amrit Tiwana, assistant professor of management information systems, was invited to Finland by INFWEST, a European Union-funded consortium of Finnish Universities (University of Jyväskylä, University of Oulu, Tampere University of Technology, University of Tampere, University of Turku, University of Vaasa) to offer a three day Ph.D. level research seminar on knowledge integration theory. The seminar was held August 12-14, 2005 in Finland and addressed knowledge integration challenges in ISD at the intra-firm, inter-firm, and network levels."

Business Week 2005: Steps
to Success, September 14-21 On Wednesday, August 31, Business Council sponsored the first annual Business Club Fest in the Gerdin Business Building. This event gave business students an opportunity to see which clubs and organizations are available for them to become involved in. Sign-up to gain membership in these organizations were available as well as free give-aways. Watch for the memberships of College of Business clubs and organizations to grow! This year's annual New Student Welcome took place in the Kelley and Joan Bergstrom Commons, Gerdin Business Building on Wednesday, August 31. All new business students, including freshmen and transfer students, were invited to this reception that included free pizza and pop. Deans of the College of Business were present and gave welcoming remarks to the students.

Media Hits for College of Business for August 2005 MONDAY, AUGUST 29 Pre-business at Iowa State University is one of the most popular majors of Iowa's three universities - The Des Moines Register. Steve Carter, director, Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship and president of the Iowa State University Research Park, was listed in "On The Move" in The Tribune for being named to Well's Fargo's Community Advisory Board in Ames. A story featuring the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship ran in The Tribune. The center is one of four that is remaining. Lars Peterson, associate state director, Small Business Development Center, was quoted in "CEOs Find Advice, Camaraderie at Roundtables" in The Des Moines Business Record. The SBDC will launch a CEO roundtable that will serve as a feeder system.
