Faculty and Staff Recognized
ISU
President Geoffroy held the University Convocation Monday,
September 29. During the assembly, the President, the Iowa
State University Foundation, and the Iowa State Alumni
Association presented honors, including three members of the
College of Business.

James C. McElroy
University Professor
The title of University Professor is bestowed on a senior
faculty member who has had a significant impact on his or
her department and the University in the areas of teaching,
research, and professional service. Dr. McElroy has served
as the Director of the Industrial Relations Center from 1989
to 1992, Chair of the Department of Management, Department
of Marketing, and Department of Transportation and Logistics
from 1990-1993, served as Interim Associate Dean from
2000-2002, and is currently serving as Associate Dean for
Undergraduate Programs. Professor McElroy has published 55
refereed journal articles in top tier journals in management
as well as top journals in accounting, marketing,
psychology, and transportation.

Mark L. Power
ISU Alumni Association Citation for Faculty Service
The ISU Alumni Association Citation for Faculty Service
recognizes Iowa State faculty for inspiring service to
students, alumni, the University, and the profession. Dr.
Power has made a significant contribution to the risk and
insurance profession, receiving national awards for research
in welfare benefits, pension regulation, and public policy.
Since 1984, he has designed and taught more than 200
insurance agent continuing education programs – reaching
8,000 insurance practitioners in the states of Iowa,
California, Nevada, Minnesota, Illinois, South Dakota,
Washington, and Nebraska.

Steven T. Carter
ISU Foundation Professional and Scientific Excellence Award
The Professional and Scientific Excellence Award, funded by
the Iowa State University Foundation, recognizes
contributions made by a professional and scientific staff
member beyond the University, contributions made within the
University, and career progress demonstrated by
accomplishments at Iowa State University. In 13 years at
Iowa State University, Steve has had a tremendous impact on
employees, businesses in the community, and economic
development in the state of Iowa. The Research Park is a
great success owing to his efforts, and he has helped make
the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship a great support
for efforts to strengthen entrepreneurial education at the
University.
