Accounting
Diane Janvrin, assistant professor of accounting, presented a paper titled "An Investigation of Factors Influencing the Use of Computer-Related Audit Procedures," co-authored by James Bierstaker (Villanova University) and Jordan Lowe (Arizona State University) at the American Accounting Association Information Systems Section MidYear Meeting in Redondo Beach, CA on January 12.
Undergraduate Programs
The 2008 Region 6 Conference of the National Academic Advising Association is being held in Ames at the Gateway Hotel on May 18-20.  The opening session will be hosted in Gerdin Business Building with Bill Fennely, ISU Women's Basketball coach as the Opening Keynote speaker.  The Monday Luncheon Keynote speaker is Wanda Everage, Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Academic Excellence from Drake University. Both will discuss how their respective departments interact with academic advising.  Co-chairs for the conference are Deb Noll, academic advisor, Undergraduate Programs, Emily Hurm LAS, Brenda Kutz Engineering, and Jill Kramer, Academic Intervention, Student Services.  Click here for more details about attending the conference.
Finance
Rick Carter, professor of finance, made a presentation to the Greater Iowa Credit Union on January 21.  The title was "Trends in the Financial Services Industry."

Mark Power, university professor of finance, and co-author Tahira Hira, had an article entitled "Insurance Company Employees' Financial Expertise and Practices: Implications on Benefit Participation and Satisfaction," accepted for publication in Risk Management and Insurance Review.

CoB Online is a monthly Internet newsletter for Iowa State University College of Business faculty and staff. The next issue will be published March 1, 2008. The deadline for submission of news items will be 5:00 p.m., Friday, February 29.
