Current Research

Dual Identity Socialization
A longitudinal (1996-present) study tracking the socialization of residents in three departments (surgery, radiology and internal medicine) during their training at a major graduate medical education center. The study focuses on how these individuals are simultaneously socialized both to their profession and to their organization. Moreover, we are examining the effectiveness of socialization tactics at achieving a variety of individual (e.g. commitment) and organizational (e.g. placement) outcomes.
