Undergraduate Outcomes and Assessment

Student Learning Outcomes and Assessment Procedures for the General Education Components of the Curricula within the College of Business
All College of Business undergraduate students are expected to demonstrate the following general learning outcomes at the time of graduation:

  • Reason ethically in business situations.
  • Embrace diversity and be respectful of others in all business and professional contexts.
  • Understand current business technologies and be prepared to learn new technologies as they emerge.
  • Solve unstructured business problems.
  • Think strategically and from a stakeholder orientation.
  • Function effectively within cross-functional business teams.
  • Communicate effectively in business situations (includes written, oral, listening, and technology communication skills).

Since 1998, these outcomes have been assessed via indirect measures (surveys) in which graduating students indicate how much they believe these outcomes have been achieved. These indirect measures will continue until direct measures are fully developed and implemented, projected to be Fall 2006. Surveys are available for review at the following links:

Survey Instruments (Indirect Measures)

Undergraduate Student Alumni Outcomes Assessment Survey
Graduate Alumni Assessment Survey

Direct measures of these learning outcomes will occur at the departmental level, through the measurement of departmental outcomes which incorporate the general college outcomes in specific major learning outcomes.
