Engagement and Service
Capacity and Commitment

The College of Business has implemented several processes to enable effective connections with its constituents.

  • The Director of Partnership Development serves as a clearinghouse for the majority of external requests for assistance with business/organization business problems. This individual is well-connected to faculty and staff within the College and to other ISU entities involved in external relationships and service in order to facilitate connections between the College and external constituents. Since 2003, approximately 40 companies have benefited from the College’s outreach activities.
  • The SBDC has 12 regional offices to serve all regions of Iowa.
  • Several academic courses for the College’s undergraduate students connects students to businesses through applied projects, such as the MKT 491X experiential course which places teams of students with Iowa food and fiber producers to address marketing problems.
  • Several College of Business student organizations engage in service learning activities. For example, the MBA Association facilitates service-learning projects for local United Way organizations throughout the academic year.
  • Both the SBDC and the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship have been noted as being among the best in the nation .
