Students (U.S. citizens) have the opportunity to participate
in the Cybercorps program through the National Science Foundation which
provides scholarships to support the student’s tuition and monthly stipend
for two years. Students in this program work in cohort groups and
participate in leadership courses and research seminars. This scholarship
for service (SFS) program requires a service commitment consisting of a paid
summer internship and one year of paid employment at a federal agency. This
unique program helps students get trained in latest technologies and
employed by some of the top federal security agencies in the country.

Cybercorps - National Science Foundation
Scholarship
Ryan Rost, a Cybercorps student, completed his internship (Summer ‘04) in
the General Accounting Office (GAO). During the internship he was
involved in examining the current state of wireless network security in
all federal agencies in Washington D.C. He assisted in testing for
wireless signals emanating outside of government agencies (a.k.a. war
driving) and developing best practices for wireless security.
He summarizes his internship as, “I found the experience rewarding in not
only honing my technical skills but also forming a better understanding of
how the federal government functions. More Information
