How do I officially become a member?

Individuals may continue as Pledges so long as they remain active in their chapter. Pledges may remain Pledges until the first semester of association with Beta Alpha Psi after they have completed two years of collegiate courses and at least one upper level course in accounting, finance, or information systems beyond the business core. At that point they must have satisfied all the requirements for membership and be initiated or be dropped as a Pledge. Pledges will cease to be classified as pledges when they no longer have a declared area of concentration in accounting, finance, or information systems. Upon completing pledging, a special banquet will be held at the end of the semester to initiate you as a new member of Beta Alpha Psi.

I want to be in Beta Alpha Psi but due to work or class conflicts, I can't attend the meetings.  How do I obtain points to become or remain a pledge or member?

If you are not able to attend Beta Alpha Psi meetings due to work or class conflicts, an alternative method of obtaining the necessary points is volunteering for the Accounting Help Lab.  By volunteering for the Accounting Help Lab for at least one hour every week, you may obtain enough points to obtain or retain your membership status.  Please also refer to the Iota Beta Chapter Point System and Membership Requirement pages for more information.

I have an internship during the Fall or Spring semesters and will not enrolled in school.  How does this effect my Beta Alpha Psi membership status?

Please notify the Membership Chair that you will not be enrolled at Iowa State and will be participating in an internship.  If you are not enrolled at Iowa State due to an internship, you are not required to fulfill Beta Alpha Psi's Membership Requirements for that semester.  Your membership status will be changed to "On Leave" for the semester of your internship.

What should I wear to the weekly meetings?  Can I bring my resume to give to the presenting employer?

Beta Alpha Phi's weekly meetings are held in an informal setting.  As a result, informal dress is preferred and business casual or professional attire is not necessary.  The weekly meetings provide opportunities to informally interact with presenting employers and thus resumes are also not encouraged.
