College of Business Graduation Ceremony

The Ceremony
The Spring 2008 College of Business Graduation will be held in James H. Hilton Coliseum on Friday, May 9, 2008. Seating is unlimited and tickets are not required for admission. Attendance is optional.

The College of Business Graduation will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. and end at approximately 7:00 p.m. The doors to Hilton will open at 4:00 p.m. The College Graduation will include greetings from the Dean of the College, comments by a speaker, and individual recognition of students graduating Spring and Summer who are in attendance. At the conclusion of the remarks by the speakers, graduating students will cross the stage as their names are read and be recognized by the Dean and Chair of their department.

Caps and Gowns
Caps and gowns are required for all graduates participating in the College of Business Graduation. They can be obtained from area businesses.

Honors and Distinction Cords
If you are graduating with Honors and/or Distinction please pick up your cords prior to the graduation ceremony.  Honor cords can be picked up from the Jischke Honors Building and the Distinction cords from 210 Alumni Hall.

Arriving at Hilton
Plan to arrive at Hilton Auditorium by 4:30 p.m. Do not take a program at the entrance; there will be one for you on your chair. Please leave coats, purses, and other valuables with family or friends. Line up areas will be posted in Hilton.

Crossing the Stage
The most important part of Graduation is the individual recognition of graduates. Only the names of students who are present will be read. Recognition will be by major. If you are a multiple major or multiple degree student, you will be recognized only once. Please decide which major you wish to be recognized for prior to lining up in the processional. Only majors or degrees in Business will be listed in the program. Marshals will lead the graduates to the foot of the stage. The graduates will present their reader cards to the reader at the edge of the stage. Each graduate will cross the stage to be recognized by the Dean as his or her name is read. Students will return to their seats after crossing the stage.

Photographs
During the procession, the lights in Hilton will be at full intensity for photographs. Flash attachments are not necessary. High-speed daylight film is recommended for color photography, both still and motion pictures. Family photographs can be taken after the close of the ceremony using the stage as a background for photos, if desired.

Jolesch Photography will take a photo of each graduate as she/he crosses the stage and is greeted by the Dean. You will receive a free color proof approximately two weeks following graduation. You are under no obligation to order any photos and the proof is yours to keep. Questions regarding photographs should be directed to:
