Setting up
your VPN A VPN is a Virtual Private Connection to the College of Business and Iowa State's computer network. A VPN makes your machine appear as if you were plugged into the ISU network. This is beneficial to us because it allows the network traffic that fails or is insecure over the internet. I know this product works for Windows 2000, and Windows XP computers. If you think this is for you, please let me know and I will add you to the group to connect. Without contacting us, you will be denied access. For windows XP and 2000, simply click the following link. When prompted to save or open the file, you should choose to Open it. Click here to Download the VPN Client When you go through the setup, you should choose to use this connection for "My Use ONLY", and you should have it make a shortcut on the desktop. I would like to emphasize that while connected to ISU, any and ALL internet activity goes through the ISU network, and is associated with your username. To connect, click the new icon on your desktop. Type in your username, password, and the word IASTATE for "Logon Domain". Once connected, you should have your U: and S: drives. (This does take a few seconds from the time the machine connects.) Please remember to disconnect when you are not using this service. There are a limited number of connections available. |
