This assignment can be completed by a team of 2 individuals. This exercise involves the development of an ER Model for an organization of your choice (e.g., your employer, a church, a social organization). The only criteria for the nature of the problem is that it not be too simplistic; that is, it should have no less than 6 entities associated with the model upon completion .
In the process of completing this assignment, perform the following steps.
A. Provide a 1 page description of the organization that is similar in detail to the type of exercises that we have seen in class. This document needs to describe the entities, their relationships, and enough information about the attributes so that I can determine that you ER model is accurate. This description should be in paragraph format, but could certainly include bulleted lists of information relevant to the problem.
B. Identify the entity types
C. Identify the attributes and associate the attributes with the entity types. List the attributes in a table and designate the primary keys (underlined) and foreign keys (italicized).
D. Draw the ER diagram in the Oracle ER Diagramming tool or a CASE tool of your choice
The completed ER model should include the following components:
Entities
Relationships
Attributes (PKs and FKs should be noted on the ER Diagram)
The ER diagram should include all of the attributes that are associated with each entity.
You will need to turn in a description of the organization so that I can evaluate your project in light of your understanding of the problem. This description needs to be clearly written and presented in such a way that a reader can identify the important components of the organizational system that you are modeling.
What to turn in: Turn in each of the items listed above in a saved MS Word File (copy and paste images from the CASE tool into MS Word). All elements should be neatly labeled and organized. You should include in the document a cover sheet that includes your name, the assignment ID, and the date.
You will be graded on the correctness, completeness, and quality of your effort. Spelling, punctuation, grammar, neatness, and all other elements related to well written communication will be considered in assigning grades.
