Bio

G. (Prem) Premkumar  is Union Pacific Professor of Information Systems (IS) in the College of Business at Iowa State University. He has a Ph.D in information systems from the University of Pittsburgh, a master’s degree in management from Indian Institute of Management, and an undergraduate degree in engineering. He has over nine years of industry experience in IS and related areas. His research papers have been published or forthcoming in MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Decision Sciences, Journal of Management Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, Communications of the ACM, European Journal of Operations Research, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, European Journal of Information Systems, Information and Management, Omega, and other leading journals and conference proceedings. He serves (served) as the Associate Editor in MIS Quarterly, and on the editorial board of IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, and Journal of Information Technology Management. His current research interests include supply chain management, telecommunications, inter-organizational systems/EDI, network security, knowledge management, and adoption and diffusion of IT. He has been actively involved with DSI, AIS, and ICIS in various capacities and served as the Chair of Big XII MIS Symposium. His teaching interests are in information assurance, telecommunications, electronic commerce, system analysis, and system design. At Iowa State University he has been actively involved in various facets of MIS curriculum development including MS-Information Systems, MS-Information Assurance, and the undergraduate MIS program. He has also been involved in developing relationships with the business community and developed an IS certificate program primarily for them.
