Welcome to the College of Business. The Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO) is an important
resource to help students navigate their stay at Iowa State
University (ISU). Dr. Brenda Thorbs-Weber serves as the
College of Business MLO providing support to students who
are African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic/Latinos,
and Native Americans.
The MLO:
- assists students through learning,
discovery, engagement, and empowerment to achieve
maximum matriculation success and to graduate;
- provides complete academic
advising;
- assists with access to free tutors
and the Martin Luther King Loan Program;
- serves as advisor to the
Multicultural Business Network (MBN), an organization
helping students become good leaders and to develop
networking and interpersonal skills;
- helps students adjust culturally
and academically to the College of Business, the
university and the Ames community;
- acts as an advocate for students;
- connects students with the
Multicultural Student Affairs Office and other useful
student services;
- collaborates with the
Multicultural Student Affairs Office on programs for
students;
Students need to regularly browse the
College of Business website for important academic
information and check the Multicultural Student Affairs
website to learn about programs and services. Some helpful
links are mentioned below. Get to know your MLO! You can
call 294-8300 to make an appointment with Brenda in 1200
